1st and 4th place at the USAIRE STUDENT AWARDS 2021 for our students
On Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Cercle de l’Union Interallié, Olivier Andriès, Safran’s CEO, presented the first prize in the USAIRE Student Awards 2021 to Elias Bouzar and Clément Garnier and the fourth prize to Charlotte Hamon and Thomas Blanc. A beautiful evening full of enriching encounters that will remain in the heads of our students!
Usaire student awards 2021: What Aviation for Tomorrow’s World
Elias Bouzar (a student in his final year at ESTACA), Clément Garnier (ESTACA Class of 2021), Charlotte Hamon (ESTACA Class of 2021) and Thomas Blanc (ESTACA and CRANFIELD Class of 2021) were winners with their innovative ideas selected among more than 130 candidates from 28 countries.
The theme “What Aviation for Tomorrow’s World?” invited participants to reflect on the challenges facing the airline industry in tomorrow’s world and to come up with solutions to advance the industry. Students asked on which pillars the sector could build to ensure sustainability and meet the environmental and performance targets it has set.
Their reports depict the world of tomorrow, the impact of the health crisis on the sector and an analysis of the political, ecological, economic and technological drivers available to sustain aviation. They also present a vision of the defense sector and the place of air travel in the army of the future.
Setting a sustainable course
For students, setting the sector on a more sustainable course will require technical efficiency standards and carbon offset programs to be made more ambitious. They emphasize the importance of developing the industrial ecosystem of alternative fuels and thinking about the distribution of energy for various modes of transport in the world of tomorrow. From a technological point of view, optimizing operational procedures is also an important way of reducing noise and environmental pollution in the sector. They also mention the emergence of new methods transport and the importance of developing travel customization and flexibility.
In their conclusions, they state that leading global companies must lead the way and influence the rest of the world. Today, aviation knows how to adapt to climate change and propose more innovative projects, but it must reinvent itself to regain its former image, public confidence and legitimacy.
The USAIRE competition
For the past 16 years, the association USAIRE has organized the USAIRE Student Awards, an international competition recognized by professionals in the sector with a jury composed of leaders in the aeronautics industry such as Airbus, Boeing, Dassault Aviation, Rolls-Royce, Air France, Corsair, Transavia, Singapore Airlines, Raytheon and the DGAC. This year, the USAIRE Students Awards were organized under the patronage of Jean-Baptiste Djebbari – Minister Delegate in charge of Transport.
Established in 2013, ORAJe was launched in France to enhance relationships between students, young professionals and the aviation industries. Through ORAJe, USAIRE is committed to bringing the industry closer to students and young professionals. ORAJE relies mainly on a group of more than 300 young people. The association jointly organizes the competition and has as its members all the finalists in the USAIRE Student Awards from the previous 16 editions.
In 2022, the competition theme will be “The future of Industry-to-Government relationships in civil and defense aerospace” and is open to all ESTACA students wishing to embark on this beautiful and rewarding adventure.
