Drone option: part of new aerial uses
With its new drone program, to open at the start of the 2020 academic year, ESTACA is meeting a demand for engineers in a rapidly developing sector. Oriented towards usage and safety, this programme is open to 5th-year students in aeronautics.
Training experts who can adapt to various future uses for both large and small drones
As they will be working in an international environment, ESTACA has chosen to teach these future engineers completely in English. In the programme, students learn about national and international regulations, risk management for complex operations, and get involved in the work of design offices for major European drone projects. The course covers activities related to small drones (network surveillance, drone inspection, agriculture, topography or delivery) as well as larger ones such as military drones, urban transport drones (Urban Air Mobility) and pseudo-satellites (High Altitude Pseudo Satellite). This dual approach will enable future graduates to adapt their expertise to the various possible uses of this technology.
A training course provided mostly by industrial partners
Professionals from the aeronautics and defence sector, partners of ESTACA, have been teaching these courses since the beginning of October to students in their 5th year. Among the speakers, some come from large and promising companies such as Dassault Aviation, AltaMetris, Thales, Eurocontrol, BNAE, DELAIR, PARROT, etc.
Associative projects to complete the training
Already covered in other modules, ESTACA is confirming its interest in UAVs with this option. Students have already been conducting drone projects in associations for several years. The first official underground drone race in France has been organized every year by students in the ESTACA Modélisme association since 2017. The challenge sees about thirty professional and amateur pilots compete from all over France.
