New ESTACA site in Bordeaux to start the 2022 academic year
The French Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI) has granted the School authorization to offer its engineering degree at its new establishment in Bordeaux. ESTACA will therefore be able to open its engineering training there gradually from the start of the 2022 academic year.
This is an important accreditation for the opening of a new campus
The CTI is the independent body responsible for evaluating all engineering training, developing training quality, and promoting the title and profession of engineer in France and abroad. Its role is to evaluate and guarantee the degrees offered by engineering schools, as well as their relevance to the professional world. It has just granted accreditation to ESTACA to open its training program on its new campus in Bordeaux.
Gradual opening of the engineering course to start with 3rd year aeronautics
At the start of the 2022 academic year, the School will open the aeronautics program in the 3rd year and aims to recruit 75 students from the ESTACA preparatory cycle, CPGE (preparatory classes to French Grandes Écoles), scientific degrees or DUT (technical college diplomas). Enrollment should rise progressively with the opening of the 4th year in 2023 and the 5th year in 2024 to reach 200 students over the next three years.
For the first three years, ESTACA will be temporarily housed in the premises of the ENSAM (Ecole Nationale des Arts et Métiers) on the Bordeaux-Talence campus, a vast university campus with over 65,000 students and 5,000 researchers. The final ESTACA building will be built at the same time, on a site soon to be defined in agreement with the Regional Council. The school plans to open its doors for the first time in 2025 and will then offer its five-year training courses in the various transport sectors. The ESTACA-Bordeaux project will be publicly funded by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
The establishment is supported by the Nouvelle Aquitaine region and eagerly awaited by manufacturers
This project in Bordeaux strengthens ESTACA’s policy of setting up in the regions, already illustrated in Laval in Mayenne, and brings ESTACA closer to a rich industrial fabric in the school’s sectors of specialization. The Nouvelle Acquitaine is the third largest region in France in the aeronautics and space sector, accounts for nearly 16% of activity in France and includes many of ESTACA’s industrial partners. The region is also dynamic in the new mobility sector with ambitious projects in connected mobility, hydrogen and the development of the railway sector. As a founding member of the Ferrocampus located in Saintes, ESTACA will be moving closer to this training and research center for sustainable mobility and railways, launched by the Region.
Supported by the Regional Council, which has made engineering training one of its priorities for higher education, the setting up of this new campus responds to a need expressed by the School’s partners and professionals in the region. The new ESTACA facility in Bordeaux will provide the skills needed by the region’s leading companies.
